Paloma Schnitzer (b. 1988, Buenos Aires) is a filmmaker and artist based in Berlin. Her work explores the relationship between devices and their social traces through video, objects, and installation. Her projects have been shown in exhibitions and festivals between Argentina and Europe. She studied film direction at ENERC (Buenos Aires) and is currently finishing her MA in Art and Media at the Universität der Künste (Berlin).
Her work has been presented in exhibitions such as Urban Habitats at Scotty (Berlin), Too Much is Never Enough at Scherben (Berlin), Oscilante at BA Photo (Buenos Aires), and Fundación Varioletto at Faena Arts Center (Buenos Aires). As part of the Labor in a Single Shot project by Harun Farocki and Antje Ehmann, her videos were selected for exhibitions at the Venice Biennale and HKW (Berlin).
Between 2019 and 2021, she was part of artist-in-residence programs at Hangar (Barcelona), Globe Gallery (Oranienburg), and Schmiede (Hallein). She was co-founder of the feminist VJ collective Trial and Theresa, where she participated as a programmer in events such as Above Average.
Transversally to her artistic practice, she is interested in the distribution of information through publishing, teaching, and curatorial projects. She has contributed as a curatorial and exhibition production assistant, and has organized and curated screenings and lectures in both institutional and independent contexts.
She also works professionally in the film and media industry, with a focus on video and VFX editing, post-production coordination, and conforming/mastering.
